Travel Lightly, Travel Boldly

Be bold. When you embark for strange places,
don’t leave any of yourself safely on shore.
Have the nerve to go into unexplored territory.
Alan Alda

Look back, at the loneliest times of your life if you are brave enough today. If you were fortunate, you were surrounded by comfort and support. But my guess, because I have lived through it too, is that in your darkest hours, you had to navigate on your own.

No one, no matter how close they are to you knows every tumble of your heart. The fears that gnaw at your soul as you walk through your days.

Recurring turns of health, of poverty (or the fear of poverty), the unsettling of constant family moves, the physical or emotional distance between you and someone, the frantic pedaling to be someone "better", how these thoughts govern our days in the smallest decisions we make. And sometimes the person we have become, is not the person we set out to be.

So how do you leave the shore of safety and open yourself to a new understanding? What actions do you take so that today's pain is the worst pain that you are willing to endure?

Only you will know when some small act is the tipping point and then you will go on the grandest adventure of your life.

You will discover the real you. With all the quirks and beauty, flaws and scars and you will be able to embrace what is coming because you have dug down deep inside and seen the courage that lies within.

The sacrifices you have made are not in vain. They have helped create the new, formidable you that is able to put some space between the unexpected and unwanted and still hold solidly onto your heart.

You are Better. You are Bold. (Click to Tweet)
