Love Letter Thrown from a Car Window |
I saw it flutter by.
The paper could have been anything
a bill
a betrayal
a lottery ticket
a phone number scrawled on a napkin
a tissue wrapped in tears.
So many ways to end a story.
Thrown out a car window on a highway
no evidence
no crime.
too late
it's gone
they are still
alone
on a road to nowhere
following a line
into the horizon.
