Celebrate Accomplishment - Smell the Flowers

Don't hurry, don't worry.
You're only here for a short visit.
So be sure to stop and smell the flowers.

Walter Hagen

Simple, right? NO!

Everyday someone says that they don't get to the things that they truly want to do. The things that they yearn to do. Most of us have to first meet the demands of our boss, our household, a partner, or our children.

We all have dreams, some we're working on, some are way down the road still simmering in our minds... waiting out time. We deserve each moment as Zen Habits reminds us, even in our hurrying moments, let's not forget to smell the flowers. Let's fit ourselves in too.

Each day we accomplish, we might not notice that we've actually moved ahead because we are too busy getting to our next "thing" whatever it might be. But what about pausing once in a while to jot it down in a notebook, this act in itself will allow us to smell the roses. We did it! Now celebrate.

You might not be one for broadcasting your highlights on social media, you're just not of that ilk. Attention makes some of us squirm. Or you might enjoy it, so go for it I say. Just always remember, that everyone seeing your post has also reached a goal that day. Sometimes just finishing the day is all that someone gets to celebrate. (Tweet This)

We're all allowed to smell the roses. (Tweet This)

Give yourself that moment. Then share what you've learned by encouraging others, you might not get as many followers/hits/retweets but you will get the satisfaction. I promise.

Keep looking. When you find it, make it better.  ©

Pastel Pause in the Afternoon

Sunshine. Shadows. Heat. Can you Pause?

Afternoon lull. Close your eyes.

How often do you stop? How frequently do you look at the colours, see the lines as the sunshine lands through your windows? Do you feel the warmth as it streams into your space?
Relax. Hear the distant traffic, the sounds of children laughing, the birds awakened to spring.

Use this moment. Take it as permission to listen and to see what you would usually not notice. Each day we get to decide what we want our lives to mean. In How to Cultivate Meaning and Well-Being Through Simple, Everyday Actions, you will become aware of the power of our choices. We get to appreciate or deny, to weigh our belief in the good in the world, to banish or to celebrate.

Give yourself this one minute regardless of what you are going through today. Don't rush through it. Savour it. Feel it. Bask in it. This minute is always here for you.

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
Viktor E. Frankl

Let the brightness of the yellow make you smile. Let the pink soften you. Allow the shades of orange to lift you to hope. I hope you giggle at the waters filled with so many tiny bubbles or shed the tears you've been holding.

May your spirit re-awaken.

May this pastel pause in the afternoon remind you to notice your special moments. (Tweet this)

How will you use your next minute? (Tweet This)
