Poetic Justice

He was turning 90 and could still say 20 plus poems from memory.
I have never met this man but let me guess a thing or two about him:
He wakes with a smile
And still puts up his own Christmas lights!
He’s invested in a “learn Spanish in your free time” 24 cd set
And polishes his shoes (all black) every Thurs night…
just in case he might need them over the weekend.

Ladies still look at him
It’s not his movie star looks
It’s not his favourite hole-y sweater
It’s the twinkle in his eye
The ready smile
The casual but determined walk
The hands in his pockets as he ponders the answer.

He gives me hope.
